JazZen plays original music that embraces the essence of jazz with highly unusual instrumentation and inspired soloing.  The organic timbre of Native American and Chinese flutes, weaving through the swirling undercurrents provided by electric cello, drums and keyboard brings a fresh, unexpected and unique sound to jazz.

JazZen performed in the 2011 Twin Cities Jazz Festival. Their current CD, Bounce Off the Moon, has received airplay on a number of radio stations throughout the US.

"[JazZen has] a unique sound that is both holy and hip, primal and sophisticated... the integration of an almost prayerful melodicism suggestive of Charles Lloyd with a more forward-thrusting, free-wheeling improvisational approach that echoes Coltrane, Davis, Shorter, and Coleman." - Andrea Canter, Jazz Police

"JazZen has a versatile sound that incorporates everything from modern groove to world jazz." - Russ Davis, MOJA (Modern Jazz) Radio
